Club Events and Projects
The Haverhill Garden Club participates in and sponsors many gardening activities and inititiatives throughout the community. The connection to our community has been a long-standing thread of our history.
Civic Garden Projects 2011-2012
The Haverhill Garden Club oversees many civic sites throughout the city
and volunteers are needed for all phases of the process - from designing
and planting to maintanence and clean-up. Meetings are underway for
planning and design are held at

CITIZEN’S CENTER
A new project undertaken in June 2011 to maintain and install new plantings
at this well-utilized center for seniors and others in the community.
CITY HALL LANDSCAPING
Maintenance of landscaping at City Hall in cooperation with the Haverhill
Park Department.

HANNAH DUSTON MONUMENT at G.A.R. PARK
Plantings and maintenance around the monument.

LINCOLN AVENUE
Seasonal plantings for Memorial Day and upkeep of perennials and shrubs in center
strip.

MERRIMACK ST. MEMORIAL CLOCK SITE
Planting and maintenance of planters at the Merrimack Street Memorial Clock Site,
which commemorates the 350th Anniversary of the founding of the City of Haverhill.

Programs and Workshops
ARBOR DAY
In cooperation with the Haverhill Parks Department, planting and maintenance
of trees in the city, with ceremonies during the week in which Arbor Day is
observed.

GARDEN THERAPY
An opportunity for Garden Club members to relate gardening activities
to members in a residential or nursing home. It is a way to provide stimulation
and imaginative programs to people in an institutional setting.

GARDEN OF THE MONTH AWARDS
Recognition of individual gardens throughout the city during June, July,
August, and September.
A sign designating the garden chosen will remain
at the garden for the entire month. Certificates presented as awards.

JUNIOR GARDENING PROGRAM
Serves to educate and familiarize Haverhill youngsters with gardening
and to foster an awareness of our natural environment though projects
and discussion. Meeting at the Haverhill Public Library, the program
is free and open to all Haverhill children 3 and up. The focus for
this year (autumn and spring sessions) will be “Dirt to Dish”. Chairperson:
